Our tale goes back to the year 1977 when the first ever traditional tourist cottage namely Sagar Cottage, in the cosy village of Nagaon near Alibag, was opened by our founder and partner - Diwakar Apte, making him a pioneer in the Nagaon cottage industry. The homegrown hospitality and endearing simplicity of the Sagar Cottage attracted thousands of happy tourists for decades.

Later, with the legacy of hospitality and education in Hotel Management, the 2nd generation of the Apte family in the service industry, Madhura Apte, dual empowered with her partner and husband Rohan Raikar entered Nagaon tourism with grace and elan.

Both of them completed their 4-year degree course in Hotel Management at AISSMS, the top HM institution in Pune. For the next few years, they gained much-valued experience in International 5-star resorts like Marriott, Sheraton, etc. living in vibrant Florida and tranquil Colorado in the USA.

Being young and resourceful this powerhouse couple immersed themselves in thorough research before pouring life into their much cherished entrepreneurial dream. With a father and guide like Diwakar Apte, they were endowed with much encouragement and reinforcement.

The fruit of their collective labour was their first boutique resort, Bougainvillea , founded in 2015. It became the #1 resort in Nagaon on the TripAdvisor list just in a year and still maintains that title!

Madhura being a true Konkani, born and brought up in Nagaon, Alibag always has a passion for coastal nature and its well-being. Rohan, a Goan by heritage and Mumbaikar by upbringing, truly understands the importance of a getaway into the calming and unwinding coastal habitat.

There sprouted a compelling idea of creating a resort that deservingly appreciates the local culture as well as showcases and conserves the unique flora-fauna of Konkani habitats. And, further sharing this coastal treasure trove with the world.

With more than 7 years of experience as resort owners, with many lessons learnt and many tricks of the trade under their belt, Madhura and Rohan, now fortified with one more partner, envisaged Oceanature Luxe Eco Resort.

The newest partner Rahul Apte, an instrumental engineer by profession, with years of experience working in Germany, adds an invariably different aspect to the project. He gives a more roundedness with his tech expertise and practical solutions.

Staying true to the “eco-friendly” aspect of the resort, Oceanature Luxe Eco Resort was developed by reinventing and reimagining the legendary Sagar Cottage in a newer avatar with many creative touches and leisurely elements while keeping the original charisma intact. Every room here is unique in its own way with the amalgamation of old-school charm and contemporary flair.
